Virtues of LAYLATUL QADR - The Night of Power

"Laylatul Qadr" is translated as “Night of Power”.This night is noted for its great blessings in the Quran and Hadith. The month of Ramadan has been singled out for special worship and exclusive favours from Allah^SWT. Among the nights of Ramadan is one special night which Quran describes it to be greater in blessedness and spiritual virtue than thousand months (80 years and 4 months) of continuous Ibadah/prayers. Quran was first revealed in the month of Ramadan and it is believed that in this night Quran was sent down from Al-Lowhul Mahfuz (The preserved Tablet) to the heavens (above the earth)for Jibrael AS to reveal in parts to the Prophet PBUH. Some Ahadith indicate that the fate of every believer for the coming year is decreed on this night.Believers are encouraged to stay awake the entire night, and pray for blessings and forgiveness. 

• It is mentioned in the holy Quran, “The month of Ramadan, in which the Quran was sent down; a guidance for mankind, and clear signs of guidance and distinction” (2:185).
• Prophet PBUH said, “Search for Laylatul Qadr in the odd numbered nights, in the last ten days of Ramadan, i.e. 21^st, 23^rd, 25^th, 27^th, or 29^th.”[Bukhari]
• Prophet PBUH said, “Whoever stands in prayer and Ibadah (Zikr, reading Quran, praying...) on the night of Power with sincere faith and sincere hope of gaining rewards, his previous sins are forgiven” [Bukhari & Muslim]
• Prophet PBUH said, “On Laylatul Qadr, the Angel Jibrael AS descends upon the earth with a group of Angels making Dua for every servant of Allah^SWT whom they see in worship, standing or sitting and engrossed in Allah’s praise...”, in a different narration it is reported that Jibrael AS, after his descent, commands the Angels to go to the house of everyone busy with worship of Allah^SWT and greet them by shaking their hands. There upon the Angels spread forth, visiting every House, whether large or small, whether in the Jungle or on a ship, wherein a believer lives to shake their hands.
• Aisha RA reports, “I said ‘O Rasul of Allah, should I find myself the Laylatul Qadr, what shall I ask from Allah? Prophet PBUH replied, ‘Say, “O Allah, You are the One who grants pardon for sins, You loves to pardon, so pardon me.” [Bukhari]
